Live from the sideline

You’re not there.
We are.

Crowdsourced sports scores live from the sidelines. Anyone on the sideline can keep the score. Everybody else gets to follow it, wherever they are.

Free to follow, free to score. Works in any phone browser.

Why we built it

Somebody at every game knows the score.

Getting it to everyone else is where it falls apart.

Some schools post results, some send a newsletter and for some the results don’t matter. Clubs and universities are no different. It isn’t that nobody cares. There’s just no central place any of it goes.

A parent who couldn’t get out of work waits on a thread. A U14B side plays a full season and only the people who were there ever really know how it went.

None of that needs a broadcaster or a budget. It needs one place where whoever is at the game puts the score, and everyone else can find it. Free for the people following, and free for the school, club or league that would otherwise be running it on spreadsheets and goodwill.

Built by people who stand on those sidelines, for everyone who can’t.

Why Scoreboard Live

Every game deserves a scoreboard.

Scoreboard Live is the tool the people around a team use to keep each other in the loop.

Can’t make it

You’re somewhere else

Work, another child’s fixture, 600km away. Follow the team and the score reaches you the moment it changes. Not hours later, and not only if you’re in the right group chat.

At the game

You’re on the sideline

You’re already there. Scoring takes a few taps, and it puts everyone who couldn’t come right next to you.

Running the team

You’re the coach

Your fixtures get a scoreboard without anyone buying equipment, booking a scorer or keeping a spreadsheet.

Just want to know

It’s your side too

Teammates, family, old boys and girls. You don’t need a child in the team to care how they got on.

How it works

One person scores it. Everyone checks it.

Whoever is already standing there, on a phone they already have. Nothing to book, nothing to carry in.

The season

The game ends. The season doesn’t.

What’s the score right now? When do they play next? How did it go? Same place for all three.

Accuracy

The crowd is the source, and we show it.

Scoreboard Live isn’t run by a school, a union or a league, and it doesn’t claim to be an official record. It tells you where a number came from and how many people are standing behind it.

One scorer at a time

Whoever starts a fixture keeps it until full time, so two people can never post competing scores for the same game.

Anyone else there can correct it

A wrong score doesn’t need a support ticket. If you were at the game you can fix it, and the change is kept as a correction rather than quietly overwritten.

The confirmation count sits on the score

“Confirmed by 3 people at the game” goes next to the number itself, not behind a tap and never reduced to a generic tick.

What happened in this game
  • FTFinal score confirmed by 3 people at the game
  • 72’Half time confirmed, 15–15
  • 71’Try reported for Maritzburg
  • 63’Corrected 15–12 to 15–15
  • 0’Scoring started by someone at the game

Every fixture keeps a record like this, visible to anyone following it.

A fair question

They all work. They all need something first.

There are good tools for grassroots sport in South Africa, but each one needs you in the right group, a camera or an assigned scorer.

Scoreboard Live

Whoever’s already there

Anyone in the crowd can start scoring, live, with nothing arranged in advance.

  • Reaches Primary and Prep, 2nds, 3rds and age-group sides
  • Live from the first whistle, not posted afterwards
  • Searchable by community, team and sport
  • Shows how many people confirmed each score
WhatsApp groups

The real default today

Genuinely how most results move in South African sport right now, and it works right up until you’re not in the group.

  • Buried in a thread, impossible to search later
  • Easy to miss, and only as reliable as whoever’s typing
Streaming apps

Need a camera on site

Equipment has to be set up at the ground, which limits coverage to the fixtures worth filming. In practice, the flagship teams.

  • Can’t reach a 2nd team, a Prep game or a res league
  • Nothing at all when the crew doesn’t come
Scorer platforms

Need someone assigned first

A designated scorer or an admin has to be set up before the game. No scorer booked, no data, which is most fixtures below the 1st team.

  • Depends on a school or club configuring it
  • Falls over exactly where coverage is thinnest
Communities

Teams belong to communities.

Follow a community and every team under it comes with you. Or follow just the teams you care about. Either way, the scores find you.

SchoolPrimary and Prep through High School, every side down to the U14C
UniversityRes leagues, internal leagues and university club sides
ClubWeekend and social clubs with no scorer of their own
LeagueA season of fixtures, followed as one thing
TournamentKnockouts and cups, all the fixtures in one place
FestivalA weekend of games across many schools or clubs

Run one of these?

Every side. Every fixture. Every result. In one place.

By the people, for the people

Nothing to set up. It works if people show up.

There’s no portal to configure and no staff member to assign. Scoreboard Live is independent of your school, union or league, and the crowd already at the game is the coverage.

  • Free to follow, free to score
  • No camera required
  • Nobody has to be assigned to it
  • Any school, club, league or tournament
